ADAM AND EVE

The online version of Adam and Eve is available in a printable kids bible story.
We also have online or printable Bible Trivia for Kids to go along with the story.

God created a man from the dust of the earth. He breathed life into the man. He named the man Adam and placed him in a garden in the east, called Eden. All kinds of beautiful trees and plants grew in the garden. In the middle stood two very special trees: the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. God told the man he could eat from any of the trees except for the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. He told Adam that if Adam ate from that tree, he would die.

God brought all of the animals to Adam and let Adam name them. None of the animals were like Adam. None of them could think and worship God like Adam could. God knew that Adam needed a helper and a friend. So he put Adam to sleep and took out one of his ribs. With that rib he made a woman, and named her Eve.

Adam and Eve lived together in the garden. Together they took care of the animals. They ate delicious fruit from the trees, except one.

One day the serpent asked Eve, “Why don’t you eat from that tree in the middle of the garden?”

Eve told him, “God said we could eat from any tree but that one, because if we ate from it, we would die.”

“No, you will not die!” the serpent lied. “God does not want you to eat it and be wise like he is.” Eve saw how delicious the fruit looked and took a bite. Adam was with her, and she shared some with him. Realizing they were naked, they made clothes for themselves out of fig leaves. They had done something very wrong. They had disobeyed God.

DISOBEDIENCE

Adam and Eve got what they wanted: an intimate knowledge of both good and evil. But they got it by doing evil, and the results were disastrous. Sometimes we have the illusion that freedom is doing anything we want. But God says that true freedom comes from obedience and knowing what not to do. The restrictions he gives us are for our own good, helping us avoid evil. We have the freedom to walk in front of a speeding car, but we don't need to be hit to realize it would be foolish to do so. Don't listen to Satan's temptations. You don't have to do evil to gain more experience and learn more about life.
